Hot dogs, ice cream cones, peanuts, popcorn and soda are available all day long at no charge. The evening begins with a tri-tip steak barbecue and country western entertainment under the stars. Past entertainers include Tracy Byrd, Josh Gracin,Terri Clark, Mark Chestnutt and Collin Raye. Tickets are only available in advance.
March
ANNUAL MEETING & DONOR APPRECIATION
By-laws require that an annual meeting be held yearly. People and businesses are recognized for their efforts toward Hospice of Yuma and are presented with Angel Awards.
April
P. K. HODGES SOUTHWEST AG GOLF TOURNAMENT
This tournament is recognized as one of the oldest, most visible and respected tournaments in the community. The tournament includes two dinners, a luncheon and two days of golf for both men and women. It requires two local golf courses and is hospice’s third largest annual fund raiser.
May
MOTHER’S DAY PHANTOM TEA
We encourage those who have received the invitation (which includes a tea bag) to enjoy a cup of tea at home and send a donation in honor or in memory of their loved ones and friends.
October
OCEAN TO OCEAN GALA
This is an opportunity to dress up and enjoy a lovely dinner (which includes hors d’oeuvre and dessert buffets), dance under the stars to live music and bid on beautiful jewelry, art, trips and other treasures that are donated from individuals and businesses for the silent auction.
November
NATIONAL HOSPICE MONTH
This is a time to reflect on what hospices throughout the country have done to help patients and families cope with terminal illness, and to remind them of its importance. For Hospice of Yuma activities include Yuma New Car Dealer Month where the following dealers donate $25.00 to us for every vehicle sold during the month – Country Club Motors, Fisher Chevrolet, Fisher Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Karl Moedl Automotive Group, Sonora Nissan and Zamora Kia of Yuma.
December
LIGHT-A-LIGHT
The Holidays bring special memories to the forefront of one’s life, and an ancient adage declares that a person lives as long as he or she is remembered. Hospice of Yuma invites people to make donations in memory or in honor of their loved ones and friends, and we in turn send lovely crocheted snowflakes to the donors as remembrances to hang on their holiday trees or in their windows.
Throughout the Year
